ROGER AT THE HELM – FREE FROM THE DEAFBLIND LABEL
Many experts feel that they have the right, the entitlement, to explain to the world what it is like to be a deafblind person. No problem but, in this enterprise, I, as a person living with deafblindness, reserve the right to do the same. I hope you find my story both interesting and informative. Sometimes my story is at odds with the usual charity or academic versions. Sometimes I may get it wrong for which I apologise. Always I describe things as they appear to me and my deafblind friends.
For us, every day is good and our life is full. Three of us live together and we care for each other. There is no charity involvement, and we don’t have social workers or carers looking after us.
